The following strategies will enable students to manage their time efficaciously:

Develop a calendar: Our students are digital natives. Utilizing the many new-age
calendar apps, they will be better poised to structure their days and develop time
planners.
 Customized Schedule/Planner: Children have their own unique personal time
rhythm. Discourage comparison between them and make provisions for individual
strength, stamina, hobbies, and duration of sleep required.
 Avoid overscheduling your child’s day: The child is not a medium for educators and
parents to realize their own lofty ambitions and aspirations. The daily planner should
be realistic and flexible. Encourage children to have free/unstructured time to
unwind. Structured time spent in a hobby/sports class does not allow them to
daydream or rest their mind.
 Encourage children to evaluate priorities: Take a “future impact/consequence
perspective.” Discuss with children read more the importance of task prioritization and its
consequences for their goals.
 Enable children to delineate between important and urgent tasks: Avoid the “mere
urgency effect.” Urgency and importance are related but distinct concepts. Urgent
tasks require immediate action, whereas important tasks have more significant long-
term consequences.
 Set half-sized goals: A big goal may overwhelm the child. Break it down into
attainable units. If a child is struggling to attain a goal that seems too challenging,
set a less challenging version of the goal.
 Time Audit: Encourage children to conduct a time audit at the end of the day to help
them identify “time leakages.” This website will foster in them time ownership and further
enable them to manage their day.
